Masterorder App – digital ordering app for the hospitality industry

On vacation, sitting comfortably in a restaurant and looking forward to a great meal, or getting to know the country’s culinary specialties during a business trip. But then the menu, with its typical local names, is incomprehensible and the ingredients seem “Greek” to you? With the new MasterOrder app from Syreta, further developed in collaboration with Martin Gottel, ordering food abroad will no longer be a flop. The MasterOrder app is designed to reduce language barriers. It helps millions of tourists in Austria without German skills, as well as tourists worldwide, when ordering food. This app shows typical local dishes in the user’s respective language.

What makes the MasterOrder app so interesting is the target group it addresses: not only tourists who can’t read a menu abroad, but also restaurants that want to serve international guests better. The app displays dishes in the user’s respective language – that sounds simple, but it solves a daily problem in the restaurant business.

Millions of tourists visit Austria every year, many without sufficient German skills. At the same time, Austrians travel all over the world and encounter the same problem. A multilingual digital menu that automatically adapts to the user’s language is the elegant answer to that.

The fact that syreta is further developing this project together with Martin Gottel shows that innovation often doesn’t come from big strategy processes, but from specific everyday problems that someone takes seriously. The next restaurant visit abroad will be significantly more relaxed thanks to MasterOrder.

How the MasterOrder app works

The app accesses a database of typical local dishes and their translations. If a tourist selects a restaurant in a foreign country, they can read the menu in their own language via the app — including explanations of ingredients and preparation method. This is particularly helpful for allergies and intolerances, where a misunderstanding can quickly have unpleasant consequences. The order is then placed via the app directly to the waiter or kitchen staff, without a shared language being necessary. For hospitality businesses in tourist regions — and Austria is one of Europe’s most visited travel destinations — this offers a real service improvement and can noticeably increase guest satisfaction.

Digital solutions for the restaurant industry — a growing market

In recent years, the restaurant industry has experienced a significant push toward digitalization. Digital menus, QR code ordering, and multilingual systems are no longer niche solutions today, but are increasingly expected by guests. In this area, the MasterOrder app was ahead of its time: it addresses a specific, everyday problem — the language barrier when ordering food — with a simple, mobile solution. Together with Martin Gottel, syreta has shown that digital innovation doesn’t necessarily have to come from the traditional e-commerce sector, but can emerge wherever people encounter unnecessary hurdles.
