Summit meeting of digital signage experts in Vienna

Digital in-store solutions are here to stay

In May 2022, the leading digital signage software provider Grassfish from Austria and the Swedish tech start-up Veriseit joined forces with the goal of becoming the leading platform provider for digital in-store solutions in the DACH region.

At the end of September, following a pandemic-related break, CIO Roland Grassberger and CEO Johan Lind invited guests to their first joint Grassfish Summit at Vienna’s MuseumsQuartier. Numerous experts from the industry accepted the invitation and contributed to a successful and educational event by sharing stories from their own experiences.

The future of POS is digital

In addition to information about the new strategic direction of the Grassfish company, there were exciting insights into experiences with the introduction of digital out-of-home spaces. Among others, those responsible at the Schindler Group spoke about implementing digital signage surfaces in their elevators, while Lukas Klockenbusch and Stefan Werner from Lidl International reported on their learnings and stumbling blocks during the comprehensive rollout of digital signage screens across all European Lidl stores.

Also invited as a speaker was syreta Managing Director Alexander Palnik, who on stage not only introduced our company, but also spoke about the successful use of digital signage solutions in our more than 20 smart stores.

After numerous inspiring presentations, the summit participants agreed not only that in the future it will become increasingly important to offer customers a comprehensive experience at the POS as well—one that connects the online and offline worlds—but also that collaboration between partners and customers must be strengthened. Only if everyone involved focuses on presenting the customer with a unique digital in-store concept will it work and promote customer satisfaction. As digitalization experts, we can only agree with this conclusion. Omnichannel concepts with well-thought-out digital features are indispensable for the future of the POS.

What Alexander Palnik contributed at the Grassfish Summit is exactly what makes such events valuable: not theory, but practical experience from over 20 implemented smart stores. How digital signage works in ongoing operations, what challenges arise during rollout, and what customers truly notice—these are insights you don’t get from whitepapers.

The summit’s message was clear: digital signage is not an end in itself. It works when it is part of a well-thought-out omnichannel concept—when the digital screen in the store speaks the same language as the webshop, the app, and the field sales team. That is precisely the standard syreta pursues in its projects.
