Department store group shines with new websites
For Weiß Handels GmbH, we implemented the new websites for the three department stores Pro Kaufland Linz, Welas Park Wels, and Tabor Steyr. Full reliance was placed on responsive design (by raum22) to ensure the pages can be delivered in an optimized way on all devices. Another highlight is the fully automated transfer and display of the weekly offers at item level. This makes it possible to present the complete content of the flyers online and to save individual items in a watchlist or print them.
What the Weiß Handels project solves in a particularly technical way is the fully automated transfer of the weekly offers at item level. That sounds unspectacular – but it isn’t: Anyone who has ever tried to maintain flyer promotions manually on a website knows how error-prone and time-consuming that is. The automated solution takes care of it and makes the entire flyer content digitally searchable.
The fact that customers can save or print individual items in a watchlist is a small detail with a big impact: It translates the classic shopping-list principle into digital form and makes weekly planning easier. Three department stores – Pro Kaufland Linz, Welas Park Wels, and Tabor Steyr – benefit from this solution at the same time, developed in conjunction with raum22’s responsive design.
Automated weekly offers — the technical centerpiece
The most technically interesting feature of the three new websites is the fully automatic transfer and presentation of the weekly offers at item level. What previously had to be entered manually or uploaded as a PDF flyer is now transferred directly from Weiß Handels GmbH’s system and displayed on the website as a searchable, structured item list. Customers can save individual offers in a watchlist or print them — the digital counterpart to cutting them out of the paper brochure, only much more convenient. For the three locations Pro Kaufland Linz, Welas Park Wels, and Tabor Steyr, this is not only a technical advance, but also real added value for customers, who can find and save offers quickly and easily.
Three websites, one system — efficiency through centralized management
Anyone operating three websites for three locations doesn’t want triple the work when it comes to content maintenance. The solution by syreta and raum22 therefore relies on a shared CMS backend that enables location-specific content without having to manage each site completely separately. Responsive design — conceived by raum22 — ensures that all three presences are displayed optimally on smartphones, tablets, and desktop devices. In 2013, this is still not a given for department stores of this size, and Weiß Handels GmbH is thus setting a clear digital standard for brick-and-mortar retail in Upper Austria.
