HTML5 banners are lightweight, fast, animatable, and can be displayed on all devices - no Flash, no plugins, no loading issues.

That the banner is being served on orf.at is no coincidence. ORF Online is one of the most visited digital channels in Austria - anyone present there reaches a broad audience that can be well segmented. For Schiedel, whose products are particularly relevant to the target group of homeowners and apartment owners, this is the right stage.

That Riedldesign is responsible for the concept and syreta handles the technical implementation is a good example of collaborative creative projects: clear roles, clean interfaces, a shared outcome.

HTML5 banners instead of Flash - why the technology shift in 2016 was important

In 2016, HTML5 banners are not a given, but a deliberate technological decision. Flash banners, which for years were the standard in the online advertising market, are being blocked by more and more browsers — and on mobile devices they don’t work anyway. HTML5 solves this problem: the banners run on all devices and browsers, are lightweight, and can be designed with animations and interactive elements that were previously reserved for Flash.
