Together with our customer Multivision Anzeigesysteme, we developed a program that takes over the timing control for the newly designed LED façade of the 70 m high, 18-story new corporate headquarters of Energie AG Oberösterreich. This makes it possible for different programs to run each day, depending on the ambient brightness, at the appropriate times.
What makes this project technically special is the complexity behind the seemingly simple task. Controlling an LED façade on a 70-meter-high, 18-story building – depending on ambient brightness, time-of-day-specific programs, and changing sequences – is not standard software, but a custom-made solution that must function reliably and precisely.
Together with Multivision Anzeigesysteme, we developed exactly that. The result is visible every day: the new corporate headquarters of Energie AG Oberösterreich lights up every evening with a program that automatically sets the right light at the right time. For syreta, this is a project that shows how far our solutions can go beyond classic web development.
Software meets architecture – an unusual project for syreta
Controlling an LED façade on a 70-meter-high, 18-story high-rise building may at first glance seem far removed from syreta’s classic e-commerce or retail environment. And yet this 2008 project very clearly shows what software development fundamentally means: understanding a technical problem, developing a tailor-made solution, and taking all boundary conditions into account. In this case: daily changing lighting programs that automatically adapt to the ambient brightness — so that the façade of the new Energie AG corporate headquarters in Linz looks optimal at any time of day and in any season, without anyone having to intervene manually.
Digital control of building technology — the connection of hardware and software
What syreta implemented together with Multivision Anzeigesysteme is an early example of what is discussed today under the terms “Building Automation” or “Smart Building”: the intelligent, software-controlled management of building components. The challenge lies in reliability — an LED façade that suddenly does not light up on a public holiday or plays the wrong program at the wrong time would not only be a technical failure, but a visible blemish on the landmark of one of Austria’s largest energy suppliers. That syreta successfully implemented this task in 2008 shows the breadth of projects the company has been involved with from the very beginning.
