The Future of Retail: Review of the Retail Innovation Days Special: Smart Stores 24/7

For almost three years now, the two experts Prof. Dr. Stephan Rüschen and Julia Schumacher at DHBW Heilbronn have been working on the topic of smart stores and have since established two such stores directly on the Bildungscampus. Now, on July 11 and 12, a groundbreaking event took place at the university, right on the Bildungscampus: the Retail Innovation Days Special Smart Stores 24/7.

This extraordinary event, to which syreta CEO Alexander Palnik was also invited, was dedicated to the future of retail and, in particular, the topic of smart stores. Prof. Dr. Stephan Rüschen, a recognized expert in the field of smart stores and one of the event’s organizers, had personally invited the syreta CEO.

The event itself was a great success and attracted over 500 participants. Leading manufacturers from various areas related to smart stores were represented and provided exciting insights into the future of retail. The variety of technologies and solutions presented highlighted the enormous potential that smart stores offer for retail.

syreta is among the market leaders

syreta is particularly proud that, with over 30 successfully implemented projects in the area of “Scan & Go” technology, we have practically advanced to become the market leader in the industry. This innovative technology enables customers to scan products independently and complete the payment process on their own. By implementing "Scan & Go", syreta was able to create a seamless shopping experience and increase efficiency. In his presentation, Alexander Palnik emphasized the importance of such technologies and how they can revolutionize the shopping experience for customers.

The event also offered syreta a valuable opportunity to present its expertise and project successes in the area of smart stores. Recognition as an industry market leader confirms syreta’s commitment to innovative solutions and its contribution to the transformation of retail. We would like to thank Julia Schumacher, Prof. Dr. Stephan Rüschen, and DHBW Heilbronn for organizing this pioneering event. We are excited to see how retail will continue to evolve and look forward to experiencing further innovation in the area of smart stores.

What smart stores mean in practice

The term smart store is used a lot, but depending on the context it means different things. What syreta has implemented in over 30 projects is concrete: Scan & Go solutions that put the entire checkout process in customers’ hands – from scanning products to paying, without a traditional checkout process. This reduces waiting times, eases the burden on staff, and creates a shopping experience that fits changing user behavior.

For syreta, being present at the Retail Innovation Days Special in Heilbronn was also an opportunity to place this practical experience into a broader context: What really works in ongoing operations? Which technologies have proven themselves, and which are still a thing of the future? With more than 500 participants and representatives of leading manufacturers, the event was exactly the right setting for this exchange.

You can watch the presentation by syreta CEO Alexander Palnik, as well as those by the other speakers, on YouTube at any time.
