Thanks to the clear new website, nobody is left fishing in murky waters anymore
The family business, founded in 1892, is now being run in its 5th generation in idyllic Luckenberg in Upper Austria. Alongside renovation work and constant modernization, one thing has always remained unchanged: the family-run company, in addition to high product quality, pays particular attention to animal welfare and responsible use of resources. In the website project, special focus was placed on simplifying the existing processes.
Straightforward data management through interfaces
Holzinger Fisch sells its products not only to end customers, but primarily to restaurants and wholesalers. For this, a standardized presentation of product information is indispensable.
For this purpose, syreta programmed an interface to the international food database “GS1”. This enables the fish merchant to transmit all item data and product information to the database in an automated and standardized way, and tedious data entry as well as the time-consuming creation of data sheets are now a thing of the past. In addition, a BMD interface was implemented as part of the website relaunch. This allows the family business to import all item data automatically into the syreta PIM (product information system). This keeps all product data synchronized on the website, and implementing a webshop is now only a fin stroke away.
Making day-to-day work easier for employees
A dedicated login area for employees also provides uncomplicated access to internal company documents and information and simplifies administrative tasks such as submitting vacation requests.
That the site has also been optimized for all end devices and meets the latest technical standards probably doesn’t need to be mentioned as extra bait for a visit to the website, does it?
What the Holzinger project shows beyond the new website is a well-thought-out structure for future growth. The GS1 interface automatically standardizes the transfer of product data to restaurant and wholesale customers — a process that was previously manual and error-prone. The BMD connection feeds all item data directly into the syreta PIM, ensuring the website and inventory/ERP system always run in sync. The employee login area reduces day-to-day administrative hurdles. And the technical foundation is laid so that a webshop can be activated at any time — without rebuilding everything from scratch.
GS1 and PIM — why standardized product data is indispensable in the food trade
Anyone supplying food to restaurants and wholesalers faces a particular challenge: product information must not only be complete and correct, but also available in a format that can be processed directly by partners’ systems. The international food database GS1 has established itself as an industry-wide standard. With a clean connection to GS1 and a central PIM system, manual data maintenance in multiple places is eliminated — changes to products, prices, or packaging sizes are maintained once and automatically transferred to all connected systems and partners. For a business like Holzinger Fisch, which works daily with a large number of items and delivery relationships, this is a significant efficiency gain in ongoing operations.
In short: a website that not only looks good, but also moves the company forward operationally.
